In 1973, Rivara's opened it's doors as a bar named "The Owl & I."  The unusual name was inspired by the presence of a stuffed owl in a dark corner of the attic.  To their fortune, the name Owl & I gave them a logo and instant recognition.  The time period was characterized as the wild west for the bar business, and the Owl & I quickly became the most successful watering hole in the area, creating nostalgic youthful memories for thousands of it's patrons.  The dining room, at the time, was the main disco area while the lounge was the place to hear rock music. This runaway train ran for 12 years without breaks until changes in the economy and political views slowed things down.

The Owl & I took this time to reinvent itself and adapted by focusing on high quality food and a relaxing dining experience.   In 1988 there were major renovations, an addition of a banquet hall and then finally a name change to Rivara's Grill House.

Ever since, it has been the place for people to enjoy the best Baby Back Ribs around, a comfortable family dinner, a banquet of all types, or a night out on the town.
